Soviet Armenian Composer and Conductor Aram Khachaturian Died in 1978

 

On this day Soviet-Armenian composer and conductor Aram Khachaturian died in 1978.

His contributions to the violin repertoire include Dance No. 1 for violin and piano (1926), Allegretto for violin and piano (1929), a Violin Sonata (1932), 'Nocturne' from Masquerade for violin and piano (1941), a Sonata-Monologue for solo violin (1975), a Concerto-Rhapsody for violin and orchestra (1961), and his most famous violin work, the Violin Concerto in D minor (1940)
