Sphinx Organization — Director of Major Gifts
With applications closing on February 17, this full time/remote position will oversee all Sphinx Board relations and individual giving
Founded in 1997, the Sphinx Organization is a U.S. non-profit supporting the development of young Black and Latinx classical musicians. Recently celebrating its 25th anniversary, it also hosts an annual competition and conference to showcase America’s emerging talents.
Sphinx’s Director of Major Gifts will be responsible for connecting current and prospective individual donors with Sphinx’s initiatives and its mission — creating social change through diversity in the arts.
This senior-level position will involve a salary in the low $100,000 range, as well as full employer-paid benefits. Sometimes requiring long hours and travel (with a focus on Detroit and New York), the role offers the flexibility of remote working.
Other duties of the position include maintaining and increasing the annual major donor portfolio of $3 million, managing all notices related to Board meetings and other events, plus distributing and drafting Board notices and updates.
Additionally, the successful candidate will collaborate with Board members, work with programming staff, and supervise the Manager of Patron Relations and Communications, which includes annual giving, social media, and marketing.
Key skills for the role include exceptional written and verbal communication skills, high-level computer literacy, and prospect strategy and cultivation. The Director of Major Gifts reports directly to Sphinx President, Afa S. Dworkin.
