Sphinx Organization to Host 2023 SphinxConnect Conference
Focused on diversity and inclusion in classical music, the conference will be held from January 26-28, 2023, both in Detroit and online
SphinxConnect is one of the largest and longest-standing conventions dedicated to diversity and inclusion in the classical music industry — welcoming hundreds of musicians, industry leaders, educators, funders, diversity advocates, and administrators.
Held in Detroit, Michigan, this year's conference will return to in-person activities, after going completely virtual in 2022. To prevent barriers to access, however, many sessions will be live-streamed through the Sphinx online platform for attendees who wish to attend virtually.

The 2023 theme is "Impact" and will feature a full line-up of sessions and guest speakers, discussing topics on diverse programming, organizational hierarchies, pay equity, mental wellness, philanthropy, pedagogy, DEI in educational and performance institutions, and more.
The conference will open on January 26th with the Opening Plenary. It will feature violinist and First Prize Junior Laureate of the 2020 Sphinx Competition, Amaryn Olmeda, followed by an interview with vocal star Denyce Graves facilitated by Damien Sneed.
For those registered either virtually or in person, January 27th and 28th will feature over 30 sessions. To view the full schedule, click here.
