STOLEN ALERT | 1890 Enrico Marchetti Cello Stolen in Seattle
Sarah Rommel’s cello was stolen from her Seattle home around May 4 and 5, 2024
On the night of May 4 or the early morning of May 5, 2024, Sarah Rommel’s 1890 Enrico Marchetti cello was stolen from her home in Seattle, when a burglar broke a window to gain access to the house.
The cello was in a blue-black carbon fiber Accord case; inside the case was a Charles Espey bow. In a separate bow case was a Sartory bow, which was also stolen, she told The Violin Channel.
Interestingly enough, she says, there was another bow case with a cheaper bow that was near the Sartory bow that was left behind. The Seattle Police Department has since been notified (case number of 24-122155).
If anyone has any information concerning the stolen instrument, case, and bow, please contact Rommel here.
“If you hear about anything at all, please reach out ASAP,” she wrote on Facebook. “Thanks. Please help spread the word.”
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the USC Thornton School of Music, Rommel is a top prizewinner of the 2014 George Enescu International Cello Competition. She has also been a recipient of the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund Grant and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artists Award.
