Russian-born British violinist Lydia Mordkovitch has passed away from cancer – aged 70. A student and assistant to David Oistrakh, she was a former 1st prize winner at the Kiev National Young Musicians Competition and the Long-Jacques Thibaud International Violin Competition. Ms Mordkovitch served a long term Professorship at London's Royal Academy of Music. Our condolences are with her family, friends, colleagues and students.
