The Benedetti Foundation Presents 2024 “Mini Sessions”
Open to all musicians, teachers, or non-instrumentalists, the sessions cover topics including practice planning, well-being, and teaching
Founded in 2019 by the Scottish violinist and music education advocate Nicola Benedetti, the Benedetti Foundation aims to to enrich the UK’s education communities through group music training.
This Fall, the Foundation is hosting its “Mini Sessions” program, a series of short, focused online workshops designed to provide detailed exploration on topics including musical technique, physicality, well-being, and personal and professional development.
With all sessions delivered on Zoom by the Foundation’s team of expert tutors and ambassadors, the sessions in this year’s program will include, among other topics:
- Creating Musical Arrangements by Ear with Richard Michael | October 21
- Bach Cello Suites: Speaking Through the Bow with Robin Michael | October 15 and 29
- Developing Technique for Adult Upper Strings with Alex Laing | October 23 and 30 | November 6
- Teaching Beginner Violin with Rachel Cooper | October 24
- Warm Ups and Wellbeing For Musicians with Elena Urioste | October 28
- Communication and Leading Group Lessons with Rachel Cooper and Lucy Drever | November 7
- Group Teaching for string players with Stewart Wilson and Joelle Broad | November 12
- Developing Vibrato for Adult Cellists with Su-a Lee | November 13
- Teaching Primary Music with Amanda Currie | November 14
- Preparation for Performance with Andrea and Djordje Gajic | November 19
- Benedetti Bowing Lab for School Age Violinists with Andrea Gajic | November 20 and 27
- Practice Planning with Alex Laing | November 26

The registration fee for “Mini Sessions” is £8–24, however, no one will be prevented from attending due to financial circumstances.

Since its founding, the Benedetti Foundation has worked with over 85,000 participants of all ages and levels, instrumentalists and non-instrumentalists alike, across 137 countries. Its free online educational video resources, including “With Nicky” and other Foundation videos have garnered over 6.5 million views.
