The Cleveland Orchestra's Concertmaster Steps Down
Effective earlier this month, David Radzynski stepped down from his post in a joint decision with the orchestra
Violinist David Radzynski assumed the role of Cleveland's Concertmaster in January of 2023, after playing with the orchestra on its first post-pandemic European tour in the Fall of 2022.
"As Concertmaster, Mr. Radzynski demonstrated superb skills as a violinist and proved himself to be a dedicated and hard-working musician," a statement by the orchestra reads. "The Cleveland Orchestra is grateful to Mr. Radzynski for his contribution to the Orchestra and for his utmost professionalism and looks forward to his long and successful career in the industry."
A graduate of Indiana University and Yale, Radzynski's violin teachers include Roland and Almita Vamos, Paul Kantor, Mauricio Fuks, Kevork Mardirossian, Syoko Aki — plus Ben Sayevich at the International Center for Music at Park University.
Having previously served as the concertmaster of the Israel Philharmonic, he has played as guest concertmaster with the Houston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Manfred Honeck, Zubin Mehta and the IPO at the Musikverein in Vienna, with the Łódź Philharmonic in Poland, the Polish National Philharmonic, the Columbus Symphony, and the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Poznan where he premiered the double concerto composed by his father Jan Radzynski.
