The Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City Announces New Artistic Directors
For 45 years, the Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City, in Missouri, has presented concerts for the community featuring some of the world's finest chamber music groups.
Dmitri Atapine and Hyeyeon Park are the current founders and artistic directors of Apex Concerts, a chamber music series in Reno, Nevada — whose performances have featured the likes of the Emerson Quartet, the Borodin Quartet, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, and David Finckel and Wu Han.
Performing both individually and as a cello and piano duo, Atapine and Park have appeared at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Chamber Music Northwest, and are the co-directors of the Young Performers Program at Music@Menlo Festival.
As a chamber music duo, they have performed at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Seoul Arts Center, Taipei National Concert Hall, and the National Auditorium of Spain, among others.
“We are thrilled to welcome Hyeyeon and Dmitri to the Friends,” said Leia Barrett, Friend of Chamber Music Kansas City Acting Executive Director. “They are passionate, accomplished musicians who will bring outstanding performances and artists to Kansas City.”
"To be selected as only the second Artistic Directors in the 45-year history of this incredible organization is a huge honor and a big responsibility," Park said. "The Friends of Chamber Music is widely known as one of the leading organizations of its kind in the United States, with revered traditions."
