The Juilliard School Launches Pop-Up Performance Space
Juilliard Station, on the corner of Broadway and 66th Street, will host performances, talks, masterclasses, and more
The Juilliard School recently launched Juilliard Station, its new pop-up space on the corner of 66th Street and Broadway. Hosted in a former WNET studio, Juilliard Station will be used for a number of public-facing activities. The space was recently inaugurated and was the location for a pre-concert talk ahead of the Fall Festival's Juilliard Orchestra concert.
The school plans to use the space for activities such as student recitals and rehearsals, early-evening "Rush Hour" concerts, pre-concert lectures, chamber music playthroughs, guest speakers and masterclasses, Juilliard store sales, Extension and Prep Division activities, and other special events.
The first Rush Hour concert, which is scheduled for September 19, will feature cellist Elena Ariza and pianist Baron Fenwick in a program of music by Roberto Scarcella Perrino, Anne Wang, and Felix Mendelssohn. Further, the Station will host a masterclass with Juilliard alum Eunike Tanzil, on the topic of building your brand as a composer of media music.
Juilliard is inviting the public to come and look around the new space through its Open House events, which are taking place on September 24 (from 5:30 to 7pm) and September 28 (from 10 to 11:30am). The Open House sessions will focus on the school's admissions, performances, recitals, master classes, and extension activities, and sign-ups will be available.
