The Leonkoro Quartet Signs with Arts Management Group
Founded in 2019 and based in Berlin, the Leonkoro Quartet comprises violinists Jonathan Schwarz and Amelie Wallner, violist Mayu Konoe, and cellist Lukas Schwarz.
“We are beyond excited to have signed with the Arts Management Group for representation in North America!” the quartet posted on Facebook. “We are so humbled and honored to join their roster and we are very much looking forward to our cooperation together.”
Recently selected for the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists program for 2022-24, the ensemble this year won first-prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition, where they received the Audience Prize and Young Audience Prize, among other accolades.
They are winners of the highly coveted Jürgen Ponto Foundation Music Prize and first-prize winners at London’s Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition — as well as being the youngest ensemble to win top prizes at the Premio Paolo Borciani. They also received prizes from the Britten Pears Young Artists Programme, Leeds International Concert Series, and Esterházy Foundation.
Leonkoro Quartet is mentored by musicians of the Artemis Quartet at Berlin University of the Arts. Other tutors have included Alfred Brendel, Reinhard Göbel, Rainer Schmidt, Oliver Wille, and Luc-Marie Aguera.
Studying chamber music with Heime Müller at Musikhochschule Lübeck, the group has also been mentored by Günter Pichler at the Chamber Music Institute of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía Madrid.
