The Musicians' Company Announces 2025 Prince's Prize Recipients
Bassist Strahinja Mitrović and violinist Mabelle Park shared the prize
In 2004, the UK-based Musicians' Company established the Prince's Prize to celebrate the installation of the then-Prince Charles as an Honorary Freeman of the Company. The Prize is awarded to a promising young instrumentalist or singer. Applicants submitted a recorded performance for the first round, and then performed live in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for the final round.
In 2025, the judges opted to share the prize between double bassist Strahinja Mitrović and violinist Mabelle Park, with each player receiving a cash prize of £2,500. Park also received the £500 Prudi Hoggarth Audience Prize, which is sponsored by Liveryman Col Tim Hoggarth.
A German-born South Korean violinist, Park is currently studying for a master's at the Royal Academy of Music under So-Ock Kim. She has previously won the Musicians’ Company Goldman Award, the Clarence Myerscough Award, and the Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Award.
Hailing originally from Serbia, Mitrović is a current master's student at the Guildhall, where his teachers are cellist Louise Hopkins and double bassist Luis Cabrera. He was the first bassist to win the Guildhall's Gold Medal and has performed in 13 different countries.
The jury comprised pianists Deniz Arman Gelenbe and Berendina Norton MBE, as well as former Royal Opera House executive producer Ben Pateman.
