Seoul Pops Orchestra Members Return to Ukraine to Fight for Their Country
According to The Korea Herald, South Korea's Seoul Pops Orchestra (SPO) has recently seen three of its Ukrainian players return to their homeland to help resist Russian invasion. They are double bassist Ziuzkin Dmytro (47), violist Lev Keler (51), and trumpeter Matviyenko Konstyantyn (52).
SPO conductor Ha Sung-ho said that the orchestra received a photo of Dmytro in military uniform, wielding a gun [featured above].
In light of the situation, Ha has decided to organize a fundraising concert, to be held later in March to support the ensemble's Ukrainian players.
“I have been working with our members for almost 20 years," the conductor said. "The orchestra is like a group, almost like a family. We do have Russian artists, but everyone is worried about our colleagues."
“I am worried about all of our members, because I have not heard much about them. I only hope they stay safe,” he added.
