TwoSet Violin Receive Golden Age Stradivarius Violins on Loan
Brett Yang and Eddy Chen will make their public debuts on the instruments at a concert with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra on November 16
Violinists Brett Yang and Eddy Chen, who make up the social media comedy duo TwoSetViolin, recently received two of the world's best violins on loan from Tarisio auction house.
Yang will play on the "Empress Caterina" Strad of 1708, while Chen will be loaned the "Regent, Superb" from the same year.
The pair will make their performing debut on the instruments in a live concert on Wednesday, November 16, alongside the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. The concert, which celebrates 4 million subscribers to the TwoSet YouTube channel, will see Yang perform Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the orchestra. Later in the program, Chen will join him for Bach's Concerto for Two Violins.
The concert sold out almost instantaneously but will be streamed live for anyone who cannot attend in person.
The concerto appearance has become a fixture on TwoSet's calendar to celebrate subscriber milestones, with Chen previously performing the Sibelius concerto at three million and Yang playing Tchaikovsky at two million.
"Being a classical violinist, it’s like a dream come true to be able to play with a professional orchestra and on Stradivari violins," Yang said. "We hope more people in the future will give classical music a chance."
