UK’s Dudley International Piano Competition Names 2025 Winner
The Welsh pianist Tomos Boyles has won first place with a £6,000 cash prize
Held triennially, the Dudley Piano Competition is open to pianists aged 35 and under of all nationalities, studying or resident in the British Isles at the time of application.
This year, first prize of £6,000 was awarded to Tomos Boyles, who will also receive the opportunity to perform a concerto with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, plus recital opportunities across the UK.
Second prize with £4,000 went to the American pianist Seth Schultheis, and third place with £3,000 was awarded to the English pianist William Bracken. The £1,000 fourth prize was awarded to Roberto Rumenov of Bulgaria.
Additionally, four £250 semi-final prizes sponsored by Waldrons Solicitors were awarded to Julian Chan, Alex Wun, Xizong Chen, and Dida Condria.
Chaired by Daniel Browell, the jury comprised Marie-Louise Taylor, Lucy Parham, Gordon Fergus-Thompson, Nicola Eimer, Robert Markham, Graham Lloyd, and Allan Schiller.
