The Ulysses Quartet, from the United States, has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Schoenfeld International Chamber Music Competition, in Harbin, China.
Comprising violinists Christina Bouey and Rhiannon Banerdt, violist Colin Brookes and cellist Grace Ho, the ensemble are former major prize winners at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition.
The Ulysses Quartet will receive US $20,000.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to the Gallant Quartet from China and Delta Piano Trio from the Netherlands.
4th prize was awarded to the Rhythms Quartet from China.
The 2018 jury comprised: Jean-Jacques Kantorow (Chair), David Geringas (Chair), Ole Bøhn, Andrés Cárdenes, Anne Gastinel, Karine Georgian, Rudolf Koelman, Kun Hu, Grzegorz Kotow, Jakob Kullberg, Alexander Markov, Amit Peled, James Tennant, Raphael Wallfisch and Raimund Trenkler.
Former prize winners include VC Artists Notos Quartett.
