United Arab Emirates Launches New Orchestra

The Fujairah Philharmonic Orchestra will be comprised of students and young players

Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, who is the Crown Prince of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, has announced the founding of the Fujairah Philharmonic Orchestra.

Based on the press release, the new ensemble is primarily aimed at young people and will comprise students from Fujairah's academies, educational institutions, and schools. The orchestra is part of a wider push from the Emirate of Fujairah to advance the arts and culture sector.

The orchestra will play a diverse range of music including traditional classical music, but will also have a strong focus on Arabic music.

According to the ensemble's social media, there will also be an orchestral school that will provide lessons in music theory, as well as host workshops and training programs to develop the players' skills. A website has yet to be set up for the ensemble.
