University of Music "Franz Liszt" Weimar Names 2024 Liszt Prize Recipients
Stefanie Dzjubak and Danylo Denysov both received €2,000 for their commitment to work outside the classroom
Every year, Germany's University of Music "Franz Liszt" Weimar awards its Franz Liszt Prize. Offered by the university's Support Association, the prize is worth €2,000, and celebrates both academic performance and community involvement. In 2024, the prize was offered to two students for the first time.
The recipients are Stefanie Dzjubak, a master's student in music education at grammar schools, and Danylo Denysov, a bachelor's student in classical guitar.
A committed volunteer, Dzjubak is a member of the departmental and student councils, works on the diversity audit, and is a member of the language working group and the advisory board for equal opportunities. She also chairs the University and Student Advisory Board of the City of Weimar.
Originally from Ukraine, Denysov taught a total of 17 hours per week at various music schools while completing his bachelor's degree. He also sits on departmental and faculty councils, as well as the committee for studies and teaching. Additionally, he is a volunteer firefighter in the Weimar district of Ehringsdorf.
"Both students have impressed us with their outstanding academic performance, versatility in a professional context and additional social commitment in very different areas," said Prof. Ulrike Rynkowski-Neuhof, chairwoman of the University of Music's Support association. "Since the Support association did not select a winner in 2023, we took the liberty of making this special decision."
"To fit all of this into a 24-hour day is quite an accomplishment and deserves recognition not only from her professors and fellow students," Rynkowski-Neuhof said of Dzjubak.
"These are activities that hardly leave any free time and deserve the utmost respect," she added of Denysov's extra-curricular work.
