The US-China Music Institute of the Bard College Conservatory of Music is hosting its sixth annual China Now Music Festival from October 2-8, 2023, at Bard College, the Asia Society, and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
This concert will feature compositions by Chinese-American composers Chen Yi and Zhou Long, who are both deeply fascinated by the intersections between different cultures in music. Their works draw inspiration from Chinese traditional music and is crafted in conjunction with contemporary compositional techniques.
Performers for this event include The Orchestra Now, conductor Jindong Cai, and guest conductor Chen Bing.
In addition to works by Chen Yi and Zhou Long, pieces composed by their mentor Chou Wen-Chung, as well as works by their students Zhou Juan and Li Shaosheng, will be performed.
