VC LIVE | Fischoff Competition Lift Every Voice Prize Concert [WATCH]

We're coming to you from Notre Dame, Indiana today for the 49th Annual Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition's Lift Every Voice Prize Virtual Concert.

In 1973, Joseph Fischoff and the members of the South Bend Chamber Music Society hosted a chamber music competition with six participating ensembles. 49 years later, on average 125 ensembles compete, representing 31 different states and 23 nationalities.

The annual competition's Junior Division is open to those 18 and under as of May 22, 2022, while the Senior Division is open to those 35 or under as of the same date. The senior ensemble's average age must be less than 31 years old. The Grand Prize winner will be awarded $10,000.

The Violin Channel recently discussed the competition with its executive director, Kara Kane.

This year, the Fischoff Competition announced the "Lift Every Voice Prize" which aims "to amplify and celebrate outstanding works by historically underrepresented voices within the chamber music world." This inaugural prize will focus on works by Black and/or Hispanic/Latino/a composers. This year's prize jury is comprised of Michael Cameron, Jeff Scott, and Julio Elizalde.
