As the Arancio prizewinner of the 2019 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis plays the ex-Christian Ferras Nicolo Amati violin, Cremona 1645, which is on loan from Rare Violins in Consortium, Artists and Benefactors Collaborative.
Born in 1995 in Riga, Latvia, Jevgēnijs received his first violin lessons at the age of four. A graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, under Prof. Boris Kuschnir, he obtained his Master of Arts degree with distinction in 2022.
A founder of the Oberton String Octet, Jevgēnijs was selected as the Vienna Konzerthaus’s Great Talent young artist in residence
In addition to winning the 3rd Prize at the 2019 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, he also won the XXVI Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Fermo, Italy, Oleh Krysa 3rd International Violin Competition in Lviv, Ukraine, and II CullerArts International Violin Competition in Valencia, Spain.
