We're coming to you from the Kronberg Academy in Kronberg im Taunus, Germany, for the weekly concert of the Kronberg Academy Young Virtuosi Series, featuring cellist Ivan Skanavi. For this concert, entitled Sehnsucht, Ivan is joined by violinist Dmytro Udovichenko and pianist Karolina Aavik.
A student of Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at Kronberg Academy, Ivan Skanavi began exploring the cello at the age of six in Moscow under Tamara Alekseeva. He continued in Moscow Conservatory in the class of Professor Alexey Seleznev and later by Professor Alexander Rudin, before moving to Germany to study in University Franz Liszt in Weimar. Winner of the 2022 Grand-Prix Emanuel Feuermann, Ivan has also appeared in renowned festivals worldwide, including the Verbier Music Festival, Kronberg Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Gezeitenkonzerte, “I Mozartini” Festival, and the International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival.
Every Wednesday at 12 PM (ET), audiences can watch an hour-long concert featuring the Kronberg Academy's students from the Professional Studies program and the Sir András Schiff Performance Program for Young Pianists. Recorded at the Carl Bechstein Hall, the recital programs were designed by the young artists themselves, and often feature their friends from the Academy’s Bachelor and Master programs performing alongside them.
