Every Wednesday night from July 6 to August 10, The Violin Channel will feature an outstanding student showcase LIVE from Westport, New York

Founded in 1944, by violin pedagogue Ivan Galamian, the 7-week summer program, nestled amongst the picturesque Adirondack Mountains, offers an immersive, professional training ground for highly-accomplished and aspiring-professional young violinists, cellists, violists, and pianists.

"Ivan Galamian was among the greatest violin teachers of the 20^th Century — holding longterm teaching positions at The Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music," Executive Director of the School Mark Hayman told The Violin Channel.

"It was his idea to create a music school over the summer and provide students somewhere without distractions so they could focus on intense practice," Hayman said.

"Mr Galamian saw dramatic improvements would arise from such a disciplined approach — equating it to a year’s worth of progress in seven weeks.”

Former students include Itzhak Perlman, Ani and Ida Kavafian, Kyung-Wha and Myung-Wha Chung, Jesse Montgomery, Pinchas Zukerman, Jaime Laredo, Michael Rabin, Yo-Yo Ma, Lynn Harrell, Joshua Bell, James Ehnes and many more.
