VC LIVE | North Shore Chamber Music Festival Presents: Tribute to Dorothy DeLay

Tune in on December 17 at 1 PM (ET) to celebrate the world renowned violin pedagogue through a concert performed by her former students and collaborators

We're coming to you LIVE from Chicago, Illinois for a special concert celebrating the world renowned violin pedagogue Dorothy DeLay. Ms. DeLay was known to have educated some of today's most prominent soloists, including Itzhak Perlman, Midori, Vadim Gluzman, Gil Shaham, and Anne Akiko Meyers.

This live performance will feature former students and collaborators of Ms. DeLay, including violinists Robert McDuffie and Vadim Gluzman, as well as pianists Rohan De Silva and Angela Yoffe. As NSCMF’s Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund recipients, violinistts Fiona Khuong-Huu and Hina Khuong-Huu will also be performing in this special event.

“Miss Delay was a great teacher because she knew when to push you to your limit yet she could read the room well enough to know when to keep it simple," McDuffie told The Violin Channel. "She was self aware and there was a practicality to her ambition. For the students with potential for success, she always had a plan. She would tell you to listen to vibrato patterns of other violinists and in the very same lesson, she’d give you career advice. She wasn’t just a teacher. She was also your manager and your mother.  And she knew exactly when to wear each hat. She’s been gone over 20 years, and I’m still learning from her.”
