Tune in here on Friday, July 14th at 3PM (ET) for an exciting concert featuring the Premiere of "Untranslatable" by James Lee III
We are coming to you live from the Ravinia Festival, North America's oldest music festival. These concerts are held at the annual summer residency of one of the nation's finest orchestras, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Throughout the year, Ravinia presents classical music, jazz, and popular music performances both outdoors and in recitals halls featuring the world's greatest composers and musicians.
This concert features the Premiere of "Untranslatable" by James Lee III performed by an ensemble of RSMI’s Piano & Strings fellows.
The work is a string quartet commissioned from James Lee III in recognition of Miriam Fried’s 30th and final season as Piano & Strings Program Director. The five-movement work is inspired by music’s “universal language” and ability to communicate feelings, emotions, ideas, and more across cultures.
Born in St. Joseph, Michigan, Dr. Lee's works have been premiered and performed across the United States and internationally in Brazil, Argentina, Russia, and Cuba. James Lee III is currently a Professor of Music at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD.
