In celebration of VC Artist Jordan Bak's recent appointment at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), he will be presenting a recital alongside collaborative pianist Polina Khatsko.
A graduate of The Juilliard School and New England Conservatory, the Jamaican-American violist is a former major prize winner at the Sphinx Competition and the Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition - and is a former recipient of the Sphinx MPower Artist Grant and the Samuel Sanders Tel Aviv Museum Prize.
His recent collaborations include performances with András Keller, Mihaela Martin, Ani Kavafian, Colin Carr, and Emanuel Gruber and members of the Borromeo, Brentano, Calidore, Cavani, Cleveland, Juilliard, Michelangelo, and Parker Quartets.
This recital marks his debut at UNCSA and will include the following works: Manuel de Falla's “Siete canciones populares españolas,” a collection of seven Spanish songs depicting the various stages of love; Tyson Gholston Davis's “Tableau XII”; Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti's “koʻu inoa”; Robert Schumann’s “Fantasiestücke, Op. 73”; two concert pieces by George Enescu; and a viola sonata by Arnold Bax.
