Stockholm Philharmonic Announces Appointment of New Principal Violist

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic has announced the appointment of American violist Vicki Powell as its new Principal Viola

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, in Stockholm, Sweden has today announced the appointment of 30-year-old American violist Vicki Powell as its new Principal Viola.

A graduate of The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music and the ‘Hanns Eisler’ School of Music, in Berlin, where she studied with Misha Amory, Roberto Diaz and Máté Szűcs, Vicki is former major prize winner at the Primrose International Viola Competition, the Philadelphia Orchestra Greenfield Competition - and the Johansen International String Competition.

She has previously served as Guest Principal Violist with the Bavarian Radio Symphony - and has performed as a guest member of the New York Philharmonic and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
