Violin Stolen in Evansville, Indiana
The $11,000 instrument was stolen from the University of Evansville's Suzuki violin program
A violin worth more than $11,000 was recently stolen from the premises at the University of Evansville. The report was made on Monday, June 24, in the 1600 block of East Walnut Street.
The building is where the university hosts its Suzuki violin program, which serves nearly 100 students aged 4-17 from across the tri-state area.
The violin was one of multiple stolen items, and it appears burglars gained entry by breaking one of the property's back windows.
"The University of Evansville has been and continues to be a safe place for our community," said Chief Communications Officer Noah Alatza. "We appreciate the Evansville Police Department’s assistance with this isolated incident. Additional information regarding the investigation can be provided by EPD."
