A protégé of Boris Belenky and Leonid Kogan, he was a former prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth, Paganini, Jacques Thibaud and Montreal International Violin Competitions
Russian violin virtuoso and pedagogue Andrei Korsakov died on this day in 1991, aged just 44.
He served as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Moscow Chamber Orchestra.
