18 year old South Korean violinist Donghyun Kim has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Seoul International Violin Competition
18 year old South Korean violinist Donghyun Kim has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Seoul International Violin Competition – in Seoul, South Korea.
A student of Professor Namyun Kim and Junghyun Kim at the Korean National University of Arts, Donghyun is a former major prize winner at the Leopold Auer and Enescu International Violin Competitions - and the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Violinists.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to: Youjin Lee and Jeein Kim from South Korea.
4th, 5th and 6th prizes were awarded to: June Jeong and YooJin Lee from South Korea and Alexandra Tirsu from Romania/Moldova.
Donghyun will receive US $50,000.

The 2018 jury comprised: Suzanne Gessner, Ilya Grubert, Kun Hu, Dong Suk Kang, Oleh Krysa, Sung-Ju Lee, Daniel Phillips, Ho Young Pi, Stephan Picard and Takashi Shimizu.
Previous prize winners include VC Young Artists Ayana Tsuji and YooJin Jang.
