13-year-old Edward Walton from Australia has today been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 il Piccolo Violino Magico International Competition – in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy.
A student of Dr Robin Wilson at the Australian National Academy of Music, Edward is a former 1st prize winner at the Jeunes Artistes Musicals du Centre Competition and the Medallion International Concerto Competition.

He will receive €5,000, an instrument made by contemporary Italian violin maker, Fabio Piagentini – plus a number of important European concert engagements.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 11-year-old Teo Gertler from Slovakia - and 12-year-old Flavia Napolitano from Italy.
This year's Audience Prize was also awarded to Edward Walton.
The 2019 violin jury comprised: Pavel Vernikov (President), Viktor Tretyakov, Sophie Rachlin, Eszter Haffner, Gianpaolo Peloso, Dong-Suk Kang and Sergej Krylov.
