Violinist Emily Sun Announced as New Larsen Strings Artist
A Professor of violin at London's Royal College of Music and frequent performer, Sun chooses Larsen’s Il Cannone strings
Violinist Emily Sun has been announced as the latest Larsen Strings Artist.
Emily Sun has appeared with leading orchestras including the Sydney Symphony and BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and has worked with celebrated conductors such as Vasily Petrenko, Andrew Litton, and Jaime Martin.
Notable highlights include performances at Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, Tchaikovsky Great Hall, and Seoul Arts Center, as well as a royal appearance at Buckingham Palace alongside Maxim Vengerov for King Charles III. She also performed for the King and Queen of Belgium at the Royal Palace of Brussels.
Most recently, she appeared at Bechstein Hall in London, performing Schubert’s Fantasie with pianist Caterina Grewe. Upcoming engagements include appearances at the Sydney Opera House’s Utzon Room series and the UKARIA 10th Anniversary Season, curated by Pekka Kuusisto.
As a pedagogue, she serves as a Violin Professor at the Royal College of Music in London.
In addition to teaching, she released her latest debut concerto album, Film Fantasia, featuring the world premiere performance of Fantasie im Wintergarten by Elena Kats-Chernin.
Performing on the 1753 Giovanni Battista Guadagnini ‘The Adelaide’ violin, kindly loaned by the UKARIA Cultural Trust, Emily has chosen Larsen’s Il Cannone strings to support her sound: combining the Soloist E-string with Direct & Focused Medium A and D strings and the Gold G-string.
“The Il Cannone Direct and Focused allow my violin to truly breathe and resonate with incredible overtones, and matched with the Il Cannone Gold G makes a remarkably deep and rich tone. The strings feel flexible under the fingers, whilst delivering sheer power and an extraordinary palette of colour.”
"Larsen Strings expresses their great pride in welcoming Emily Sun to their distinguished roster of artists, celebrating her profound musicality, interpretative depth, and vital contribution both as a performer and as an inspirational mentor to young musicians," a representative of Larsen Strings told The Violin Channel.
