Violinist Hilary Hahn Targeted in AI Impersonation Scam
The GRAMMY Award-winning violinist has alerted her fans of recent AI video impersonation scams
Violinist Hilary Hahn has warned her fans to be wary of online scammers that have been using AI to create videos impersonating her to engage unsuspecting users.
Hahn’s extensive fan base covers 483,000 followers on Instagram, 148,900 followers on X, and 227,000 followers on Facebook.
Currently recovering from a double pinched nerve injury, Hahn had to withdraw from recent concert engagements with the Berlin Philharmonic, including a U.S. tour. Artists who stepped in for her included violinists Benjamin Beilman and Vilde Frang, and pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko.
“Hi all, I’ve received reports that someone has been using AI to create videos impersonating me,” she posted on Facebook. “I’d like to reiterate that my only social media accounts are Facebook (@hilaryhahn), Instagram (@Violincase), TikTok (@hilaryhahnofficial), Twitter (@violincase), and YouTube (@hilaryhahnvideos). Anyone reaching out from any other handle is neither me nor is it anyone affiliated with me.
“We have a very special community here, and I am so grateful to have such an incredible fanbase,” she added. “Please know that neither I nor my management would ever reach out to ask for money in exchange for meetings, private lessons, backstage access, or any other services. If in doubt, please don’t engage with suspicious posts, and please continue to report impersonators.”
This scam is the latest among those that have targeted violinists including Itzhak Perlman, David Garrett, and Midori.
