Pittsburgh Violinist Hong-Guang Jia has Died
He served as long time assistant concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony and on the faculty at Duquesne University School of Music
Jia studied with Yao Ji Lin at the Central Conservatory, Yehudi Menuhin and Alberto Lysy at the Menuhin International Music Academy, in Gstaad, and Raphael Druian at Boston University.
He served as assistant concertmaster in Pittsburgh for 29 years and previously as a member of the Baltimore Symphony and Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hong-Guang Jia, our Assistant Concertmaster, who retired in September of 2020 after 29 amazing years," the Pittsburgh Symphony said on their Twitter. "He will always be remembered in our hearts for his welcoming smile backstage and passionate commitment to music."
