The Australian Festival of Chamber Music, in Townsville, Australia, has this week announced the appointment of British violinist Jack Liebeck as its new Artistic Director - effective from the commencement of the 2021 Festival.
The 39-year-old violin virtuoso will succeed British pianist, Kathryn Stott in the role.
"Jack Liebeck is one of the world’s great violinists and teachers ... we are delighted to share the news of his appointment as incoming Artistic Director of the AFCM," Festival Chair Sandra Yates has this week said.
"As a player, I experienced seven enjoyable AFCMs, forging many links and musical friendships ... now in its 30th year, the event has proven to be one of the outstanding chamber music festivals in the world - and perhaps the largest in the Southern Hemisphere ..." Jack has this week said.
"I look forward to programming my first festival in Townsville post haste!" he has said.
