The Australian Festival of Chamber Music, in Townsville, Australia, has this week announced the appointment of British violinist Jack Liebeck as its new Artistic Director – effective from the commencement of the 2021 Festival.
The 39-year-old violin virtuoso will succeed British pianist, Kathryn Stott in the role.
“Jack Liebeck is one of the world’s great violinists and teachers … we are delighted to share the news of his appointment as incoming Artistic Director of the AFCM,” Festival Chair Sandra Yates has this week said.
“As a player, I experienced seven enjoyable AFCMs, forging many links and musical friendships … now in its 30th year, the event has proven to be one of the outstanding chamber music festivals in the world – and perhaps the largest in the Southern Hemisphere …” Jack has this week said.
“I look forward to programming my first festival in Townsville post haste!” he has said.
