Violinist Julia Fisher Becomes a Larsen Strings Artist
Fischer has now joined the Denmark-based Larsen Strings as a company artist
Larsen Strings has announced that violinist Julia Fischer is now an official Larsen Artist. Fischer plays on Larsen's "Il Cannone Gold" strings on her 1742 violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. Fischer joins violinists such as Anne Akiko Meyers, Fedor Rudin, and Renaud Capuçon on the Larsen Artist roster.
“Il Cannone Gold by Larsen are by far the best strings I have ever played," Fischer has said of her strings. "They settle in after just a few days and maintain their incredible quality for several weeks, if not months: not only in terms of volume and tuning, but especially the tonal inspiration, which is so important with a full concert schedule, is always a joy.”
"From the pinnacle of the violin elite as a soloist and chamber musician to her roles as artistic director and esteemed professor, Julia Fischer embodies artistic versatility in perfection," Larsen Strings writes of Fischer. "With her extraordinary virtuosity, musical passion, and great diversity, she has carved out a unique place among the greats of music."
Julia Fischer has been honored with numerous prestigious awards such as the Federal Cross of Merit, the German Culture Prize, and the Bavarian Maximilian Order. She performed at the 2023 Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm alongside the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Early in her career, Julia Fischer set a milestone by winning first prize at the international Yehudi Menuhin Competition in 1995. Since then, she has conquered the world’s stages, guest-performing with the most renowned orchestras and collaborating with prominent conductors.
In the current season, she embarks on a major European tour with pianist Jan Lisiecki, performing in cities from Bilbao to Turin, Monte Carlo, and Hamburg. This will be followed by a US tour in the spring of 2025. She also regularly performs with cellist Daniel Müller-Schott and pianist Yulianna Avdeeva, debuting as a trio at major festivals in the summer of 2024.
In 2011, she founded the Julia Fischer Quartet, forming a musical unity with Alexander Sitkovetsky, Nils Mönkemeyer, and Benjamin Nyffenegger. Fischer has a close relationship with the prestigious British chamber orchestra, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, and toured with them throughout Europe to celebrate the 100th birthday of founder Marriner last season.
Since 2024, Julia Fischer and Benjamin Nyffenegger have taken on the artistic direction of the "Boswiler Sommer," a distinguished chamber music festival in Aargau, Switzerland.
Other musicians who recently joined the Larsen Strings family of artists include Duek Woo Kim, Corina Belcea, Pei Sian, Seohyun Kim, Tamaki Kawakubo, Muriel Oberhofer, Yasutomo Ogitani, and Ju-Young Baek. The full list is available at this link.
