Troussov’s upcoming albums include the Dvorak Quartet live from the Kaposvar Festival in Hungary, Mozart’s Violin Concertos, Astor Piazzolla’s Four Seasons, plus the Schubert and Mozart Rondos, among others.
Aiming to produce 40 CDs featuring different violin concertos as part of the live series, Troussov has so far released Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto No. 2, Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, plus violin duos with violinist Julia Fischer.
“Discography is like a personal statement, featuring special moments of music-making in magical places around the world,” Troussov told The Violin Channel in an interview. “It is such a great feeling to be able to share these moments with my audience and music lovers from all the continents of our world.”
Born in St. Petersburg in 1982, Troussov took his first violin lessons at age four at the Rimsky-Korsakov-Conservatory and made his debut at the age of six. His mentors included Zakhar Bron, Christoph Poppen, Igor Oistrakh, and Lord Yehudi Menuhin.
In 2009, he drew international attention after stepping in for Gidon Kremer performing live and on Radio France with the Orchestre National de France and Daniele Gatti at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
Troussov plays the 1702 “Brodsky” violin by Antonio Stradivari — the violin on which Adolph Brodsky performed the world premiere of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in 1881.
Learning to play the piano from age five, Alexandra Troussova also attended the Rimsky-Korsakov-Conservatory. Her mentors have included James Tocco, Dimitri Bashkirov, and Vadim Suchanov.
A prizewinner of many international competitions, she has performed across Europe, Japan, and the U.S., plus appeared at the Verbier Festival, Lanaudiere Music Festival, Gulbenkian Foundation, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and more.
She has worked with conductors including Lorin Maazel, Antoni Witt, Wolfgang Gönnenwein, Sir Neville Marriner, Josef Suk, Walter Weller, Arie van Beek, and Michel Tilkin.
