Violinist Luka Faulisi Signs with IMG Artists and Sony Classical
The 20-year-old will release his debut album, Aria, in the Spring of 2023
The young Italian-Serbian-French violinist Luka Faulisi has signed with both IMG Artists and Sony Classical, with both appointments being announced in tandem.
Currently just 20 years old, Faulisi began learning the violin aged three and initially studied with Boris Belkin at the Conservatorium Maastricht in the Netherlands. He is now learning from Pavel Berman at Italy's Academy Lorenzo Perosi.
Faulisi's new album, Aria, will be released on Sony Classical in Spring 2023. Recorded alongside pianist Itamar Golan, the disc explores violin-piano arrangements of opera repertoire, covering composers such as Bizet, Gounod, Rimsky-Korsakov, Szymanowski, Tchaikovsky, and Verdi.
"I am extremely honored at the opportunity to work with Sony Classical and its energetic and imaginative team," said Faulisi.
"Having grown up listening to the much-celebrated Sony recordings by Jascha Heifetz and David Oistrakh, Sony has always had a significant influence on my artistic development since my early childhood," he added. "They possess an impressive ability to innovate and to initiate successful projects while respecting the immense heritage of the company."
"Luka Faulisi has an extraordinary musical gift," said Per Hauber, the President of Sony Classical.
"We are thrilled that he has recorded his debut album for Sony Classical," he continued. "It is a privilege to work with such a talented young artist as Luka and with someone with such a clear vision for his future."
At IMG Artists, Faulisi joins their roster for General Management. He will be represented by Elena Kostova and Juliette Vix from the London office.
"I am very fortunate to work with Elena and Juliette as they are very attentive to my ideas with regards to the repertoire choices for both concerts and recording projects," he said of the news. "Their strategic approach, based on their vast experience, and deep appreciation of my personal and cultural background mean that their guidance and advice are entirely relevant to my own context. I am looking forward to this collaboration which promises to be very fruitful!”
