Violist Masumi Rostad Signs with Suòno Artist Management
The former Pacifica Quartet violist will be represented by Marianne LaCrosse
Violist Masumi Rostad has joined the roster of the boutique San Francisco company Suòno Artist Management — where he will be represented by the company's founder and CEO, Marianne LaCrosse.
As the violist of the Pacifica Quartet between 2001 and 2017, Rostad performed in some of the world's greatest concert halls and picked up distinctions including the Cleveland Quartet Award, an Avery Fisher Career Grant, and Musical America’s Ensemble of the Year award for 2009.
As concerto soloist, he has appeared with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, and The Knights — and he has made festival appearances at La Jolla SummerFest, Marlboro, Caramoor, Bowdoin, Aspen Music Festival, Beare’s Premiere Performances in Hong Kong, Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, Spoleto USA, Music@Menlo, and Music In the Vineyards.
Rostad is also a noted pedagogue and has served on the faculties of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, the University of Chicago, Longy School of Music, the University of Toronto, Northwestern University, and the Eastman School of Music.
He studied with Karen Tuttle at The Juilliard School, where he won the school's concerto competition and also received the Lillian Fuchs Award for the most outstanding graduating violist.
Other artists on the Suòno roster include the Jasper String Quartet, historical violinist Augusta McKay Lodge, and cellist Nicholas Canellakis.
"I’m thrilled to join this esteemed group of accomplished friends and colleagues as I embark on a collaborative journey with the exceptional Marianne LaCrosse at Suòno Artist Management," Rostad said. I’ve known her for years and trust in her vision and deep knowledge of our business."
