Violist Yuri Bashmet Hospitalized With COVID-19 Virus

Russian violist Yuri Bashmet and his wife, violinist Natalya Bashmet, have been admitted to a hospital in Moscow, due to the Coronavirus


The 67–year–old is regarded as one of the world’s foremost violists, performing regularly with the world’s finest orchestras and conductors.

According to today's Russian media both are in a stable condition, suffering from pneumonia-like symptoms.

Bashmet was scheduled to be conducting the All-Russia Youth Symphony Orchestra this week but has been replaced by Ecuadorean conductor, Freddie Cadena.
