Boskovsky is best known as the conductor of the Vienna New Year's concert for 25 years
He served as Concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra from 1936 to 1979. Boskovsky, who is known to epitomize Viennese style with his musical interpretations, is best remembered as the long-standing conductor of the Vienna New Year's Concert — which traditionally features music of the Strauss family — from 1954 to 1979.
He was also a chamber musician and performed as a member of the Boskovsky Quartet and Vienna Octet.
Boskovsky died in 1991 from his third stroke.
