Winners Announced at the 2022 Alberto Lysy International Violin Competition
17-year-old Ukrainian violinist Bohdan Luts received both First Prize and the Audience Prize
The second edition of Switzerland's Alberto Lysy International Violin Competition has recently come to a close.
The competition was won by the 17-year-old Ukrainian violinist Bohdan Luts, who hails from Lviv, Ukraine. As part of his prize, Luts will receive several concert appearances, as well as the loan of a violin by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume.
A graduate of the Kyiv State Music Lyceum and the Lviv State Music Lyceum, Luts is presently continuing his studies with Oleg Kaskiv, Guillaume Chilemme, and Renaud Capuçon at Switzerland's International Menuhin Academy.
Lutus has won the 2022 Carl Nielsen International Competition as well as prizes at the Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition, the Il Piccolo Violino Magico competition, and the Lipizer International Violin Competition.
Second Prize (CHF 2,000) was awarded equally to Simon Zhu (21, Germany), Mon-Fu Lee Hsu (22, Spain), and Wassili Wohlgemuth (22, Germany).
The jury was comprised of Adelina Oprean, Michael Malmgreen, Antonio Lysy, Igor Karsko, Pablo de Naveran, and Lukas Wittermann.
