Young People’s Chorus of New York City — Conducting Fellow
To begin in Fall 2023, this full-time role will lead community programs and conduct affiliated in-school choruses in New York City Public Schools
The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) was founded in 2018 by artistic director Francisco J. Núñez to provide children of all cultural and economic backgrounds with music education. It has since become an internationally acclaimed multicultural youth chorus and recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship and Musical America’s 2018 Educator of the Year.
As well as assisting in program administration and working with the artistic team to produce curriculum, rehearsals, and concerts, the successful candidate will also support the award-winning YPC After-School Choruses. Additionally, the YPA Conducting Fellow will receive ongoing training with YPC’s team led by Núñez and creative director Elizabeth Núñez,
The salary for the role ranges from USD $50,000 to USD $60,000 a year. Offering an all-encompassing compensation package, the position includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Role qualifications involve a four-year degree in choral conducting or music education, piano competency, teaching and conducting experience, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
