17-Year-Old Violinist Julian Rhee Awarded Aspen Festival’s 2019 Dorothy DeLay Fellowship
The Aspen Music Festival and School has announced American violinist Julian Rhee as the recipient of the 2019 Dorothy DeLay Memorial Fellowship
The Aspen Music Festival and School has this week announced 17-year-old American violinist Julian Rhee as the recipient of the 2019 Dorothy DeLay Memorial Fellowship.
A scholarship student of Almita Vamos at the Music Institute of Chicago, and summer student of Robert Lipsett and Sylvia Rosenberg as the Aspen Music Festival Academy, Julian was recently awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Johansen International String Competition, in Washington D.C.
He will receive a full scholarship to next year’s Aspen Festival programme – plus a prestigious solo engagement with the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra.
This year’s jury comprised conductor Robert Spano, violinist David Coucheron - plus Festival Vice President Asadour Santourian.
