The 9 Semi-Finalists have been announced at the 2018 Paulo International Cello Competition
The 9 Semi-Finalists have been announced at the 2018 Paulo International Cello Competition – in Helsinki, Finland.
The 2018 candidates are:
- VC Young Artist Zlatomir Fung (19, United States)
- VC Young Artist Brannon Cho (23, United States)
- Bryan Cheng (21, Canada)
- Leonardo Chiodo (19, Finland)
- Minji Kim (23, South Korea)
- Maciej Kułakowski (22, Poland)
- Timotheos Petrin (24, Greece)
- Ivan Sendetskiy (22, Russia)
- Michiaki Ueno (22, Japan)
Open to cellists of any nationality born between 1988 and 2002, the 1st prize winner will receive €20,000.
The 2018 jury comprises: Arto Noras, Frans Helmerson, Maria Kliegel, Laurence Lesser, Ivan Monighetti, Philippe Muller, Li-Wei Qin, Martti Rousi and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.
Former major prize winners include Nicolas Altstaedt, Xavier Phillips, Hai-Ye Ni, Enrico Bronzi, Andreas Brantelid – and VC Artists Kian Soltani, Pablo Ferrández and Aurélien Pascal.
