Prizes Awarded at Berlin's Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation String Quartet Competition
The Austrian-based Adelphi Quartet has been awarded 1st prize at the 2020 Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation String Quartet Competition
The Austrian-based Adelphi Quartet has this week been awarded 1st prize at the 2020 Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation String Quartet Competition – in Berlin, Germany.
Comprising violinists Maxime Michaluk and Esther Agustí, violist Marko Milenković and cellist Nepomuk Braun, the ensemble are current students of Rainer Schmidt at the Salzburg Mozarteum University.
They will received €12,000.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to the Baum Quartet from South Korea/Germany - and the Barbican Quartet from the United Kingdom.
The 2020 jury comprised: Eleonore Büning, Christoph Poppen, Irene Schwalb and Oliver Wille.
Previous 1st prize winners include: the Meccore Quartet, Noga Quartet, Aris Quartet and the Cosmos Quartet.
