Italian-French Pianist Aldo Ciccolini Has Died – Aged 89

Legendary Italian-French pianist Aldo Ciccolini has passed away in Paris – aged 89.

A student of Paolo Denza, he served a long term Professorship at the Paris Conservatoire – his famed students including Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Artur Pizarro and Nicholas Angelich.

A passionate champion of French composers, Mr Ciccolini recorded more than 50 albums - all mostly of French repertoire.

He passed away in his home following several weeks of hospitalisation for an undisclosed illness, his manager has indicated.
