New York City-based Argus Quartet performing the world premiere recording of American composer Andrew Norman’s Peculiar Strokes for String Quartet.

“Being an amateur string player, I’ve always been fascinated by the physicality and theatricality of string playing … for me, the myriad motions that connect human bodies to bows to strings are as interesting and expressive and meaningful as the sounds that emanate from those strings …” Andrew has told The Violin Channel.

“Peculiar Strokes is a series of studies on different bow strokes, and each study is meant to be seen as much as heard …” he has said.

“I have no expectations for what the listener (or viewer) of this piece will take away with them.”
