Armida Quartet Awarded Ensemble Prize at Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival

The Berlin-based Armida Quartet have today been announced as the recipients of the €10,000 (US$13,000) 2014 'Young Elite Ensemble Prize' at the 2014 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, in Germany.

The Quartet, comprising violinists Johanna Staemmler and Martin Funda, violist Teresa Schwamm and cellist Peter-Philipp Staemmler are former 1st prize winners at the 2012 ARDs International Music Competition.

This year's festival Soloist prize was awarded to American pianist Kit Armstrong – and the audience accolade presented to Lithuanian accordion player Martynas Levickis.
