Two Members Set to Leave Berlin’s Artemis String Quartet
2nd violinist Anthea Kreston and cellist Eckart Runege will leave the Berlin-based Artemis Quartet in May of next year
It has been announced today that 2nd violinist Anthea Kreston and cellist Eckart Runege will leave the Berlin-based Artemis String Quartet - in May of next year.
Eckart, who has performed with the ensemble since 1989, has indicated he will leave the group to devote more time to his own artistic projects and to his family.
“I have enjoyed the privilege of being able to work and perform with many wonderful colleagues and partners, of being able to share the unique quartet repertoire with them and with our audiences over a very long time during my life as a musician – and for that I am deeply grateful,” he has said.
The remaining members, violinist Vineta Sareika and violinist/violist Gregor Sigl, have indicated they will announce replacements in coming months.
