What would be your dream gig?
"Being part Japanese, anything in Japan. I haven’t performed there enough in my book! In the US, and because I grew up watching so many concerts with the New York Philharmonic, I have always dreamed of one day standing in front of that ensemble and on the stage at Lincoln Center"
What is a song that makes you turn the radio up?
"This is an eclectic list and really depends on what I’m doing at the time. Anything on the Mamma Mia soundtrack—I love it! “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac; “Lovers Rock” by TV Girl; and anything Taylor Swift. Yes, I am a “Swiftie”! In fact, “Enchanted” by Taylor Swift is the song I listen to before almost every concert. I consider it my “lucky” song. If I’m in a classical mood, I will turn up the volume if I hear Camilla Wicks’ Sibelius Concerto. It really rocks!"
What would you say makes you unique as a musician?
"My ability to connect, be it with other musicians or with the audience. This is true for both on and off the stage. I thrive on this connection because it inspires me and makes me a better violinist and artist. Next, I would say my drive for putting in the work which allows me to have absolute freedom and fun when I’m performing!"
